About the PDCA

The Potomac Decoy Collectors Association (PDCA) was formed in 1997 to preserve, promote and celebrate America’s finest folk art, the waterfowl decoy. Our non-profit, educational organization supports ongoing scholarship and information sharing on decoys, their makers and the history of their use. We actively promote the art and history of decoys to the public and work to preserve carving traditions into the future. In addition to preserving the unique history of America’s waterfowling past, we also support the conservation of waterfowl and their habitat.

While the Potomac Decoy Collectors Association is based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region, we have members from around the country. We are one of the most active decoy collecting clubs in the U.S. and have over 100 members from more than 15 states coast to coast. Our membership includes many nationally recognized authorities on decoys including authors and historians, museum directors, gallery and auction house owners, and world champion decoy carvers.
